Surfers

Hayling Island is the place to be for windsurfing and watersports. In fact, it can actually be credited with being the birthplace of windsurfing as it was invented in Hayling by Peter Chivers in 1958!

Windsurfing marathons and sailing championships take place throughout the year in and around Hayling Island, with a relaxed environment and safe waters for new enthusiasts to practice their skills in.

Tuition is available from the Portsmouth Outdoor Centre for windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. Sailing is also available from the Cobnor Activity Centre and from Sunsail based at Port Solent. Windsurfers, wet suits, surf boards, body boards and water-skis are available to hire from Shore Watersports, so get kitted out today and hit the water for some off-shore activity!

Kitesurfing is another popular sport on offer in the area by Zero Gravity, Seafront Hayling Island. For more information call 02392 460 555.

Contact the Visitor Information Centre for more information on any of the activities mentioned here on 023 9246 7111.
