Ghostly Goings on – Museums at night! at The Spring

Ghostly Goings on – Museums at night! at The Spring

Participatory Event

We ask what goes on once the sun goes down? Perhaps The Spring has a life of its own. Do the artefacts come alive and break free from their cabinets? Do Ghostly figures cluster in the café? Maybe ghouls lurk in the research room, whilst phantoms play in the theatre?

For this unique event The Spring offers visitors and families the chance to visit the museum during the deep, dark hours of the night!

Families and visitors can come along in pyjamas or even bring a sleeping bag for this unique family experience with scary stories, live music, crafts, ghost walks and much more.

Some of the highlights will include; children’s creepy craft making; a trail of terror where families can search the venue and meet historical characters from Havant’s past and visitors can work with our genealogy expert Christine to trace their families past.

Test your courage with our Ghost walk of Havant led by Hampshire’s ‘Dark Encounters’ a team of paranormal experts. Explore the winding historic streets at 11pm with a ghostly guide, and discover fascinatingly frightful facts! Families can bring along their torches and join us on a torch lit tour of the museum at 10:30pm; children and adults will explore the collections and displays in the dark!

We will also be joined by award winning children’s author Vanessa Curtis who will be reading spine tingling extracts from her popular book The Haunting of Tabitha Grey; listeners will be able to ask questions and learn the inspiration for Vanessa’s wonderfully chilling novel.

The FB Pocket Orchestra will make a much anticipated return to The Spring. Find them in the Museum and sway to their haunting tunes of bygone days. Listen to the past with the sounds of hot jazz, the blues and ragtime of the 1920s and 1930s. The vintage style musicians come dressed in retro regalia and set an inviting period atmosphere with 2, 45 minute sets of live music.

And if all the excitement has left you hungry for something yummy, join us in the café at midnight for bacon butties and a cup of tea!
